Bramble & Crest. A workshop. A shop. Generations of craftsmen.

What we make.

Cufflinks. Tie bars. Collar bars. A small range of lapel pins. That's it. We don't do watches, we don't do jewellery for other occasions, and we don't do seasonal collections. The range is what it is because we know it well.

The workshop has six people. Four of them finish by hand. Every piece goes through a final manual check before it ships — not a box-ticking exercise, a real look under a loupe. If something isn't right, it goes back.

Edward started this in 2011 after twelve years working in silversmithing. He was tired of accessories that looked fine in a box and fell apart on a cuff. The first run was forty pairs. We sold them to colleagues, then to their colleagues, and it grew from there — slowly, without a plan to scale.

Materials are sourced from a small number of suppliers we've worked with for years. Sterling silver, solid brass, and 18-carat gold plate where it's specified. We don't use hollow castings. We don't do fast-turn production runs.

About two-thirds of our orders are from men who've bought before. Some have been customers since 2013. That's the figure we pay attention to — not units shipped.

Join the community of collectors and professionals who've trusted us since those early years. If you're the kind of man who reads the spec before he buys, you'll find everything you need here. Take the next step and reach out if you have a question — we answer our own correspondence.

Worth knowing

Questions we hear most often.

Sizing, hallmarking, care, made-to-order timelines, and what we'll do if something isn't right.

01 What metals do you use in the Engine-Turned Silver Cufflinks?

Sterling silver throughout — no plating, no base-metal fill. The engine-turning is cut by hand on a rose engine lathe. It takes longer than stamping. The pattern holds its definition for decades rather than wearing flat after a few years in a cufflink box.

02 Are the 18ct Gold Knot Cufflinks solid gold or gold-filled?

Solid 18ct yellow gold. Not gold-filled, not vermeil. The weight you feel when you pick them up is the weight of the metal itself. We don't sell gold-filled pieces — the economics only work if you plan to replace them, and that's not how we think about what we make.

03 How do I care for the Oval Enamel Cufflinks without damaging the finish?

Wipe with a dry soft cloth after wearing. Don't use silver polish on the enamel face — it gets into the edges and dulls the colour over time. The silver surround can be polished carefully with a cloth. Store them separately from harder pieces. Enamel is glass, essentially, so a knock against a watch case will chip it.

04 Do the Silk Knot Cufflinks come in other colours beyond the set of four?

The Set of Four covers navy, burgundy, forest green, and ivory — the four that work hardest across a week of shirts. Individual colours are available on request. Lead time is usually two to three weeks. Write to us through the Contacts page with the shirt or jacket you have in mind and we'll tell you what we'd suggest.

05 How long does delivery take, and do you ship to Europe?

UK orders arrive in three to five working days. EU deliveries run seven to twelve working days depending on the country. We ship to Germany, France, the Netherlands, Switzerland, Denmark, and most of Western Europe as standard. Customs duties for EU orders are the buyer's responsibility — we mark packages accurately and don't falsify values.

06 What is your returns policy if something doesn't suit?

Fourteen days from delivery. Return the piece unworn and in its original box and we'll refund in full, no questions. If it's been worn and there's a fault — a loose T-bar, a stone that's worked loose — bring it back regardless of when you bought it. That's a different matter and we'll sort it.

07 Can the Mother-of-Pearl Dress Set be ordered with matching cufflinks?

Yes. The Mother-of-Pearl Dress Set — studs, waistcoat buttons, and shirt buttons — is designed to sit alongside the engine-turned silver range. We can put together a matched set on request. Prices depend on the configuration. Use the contact form and tell us what you're dressing for — black tie or white tie makes a difference to what we'd recommend.

08 Do you offer engraving on the silver or gold pieces?

We do, on most of the silver and gold cufflinks. Hand engraving, not laser. A monogram or a short date. Turnaround adds ten to fourteen working days. Not every piece is suited to it — the engine-turned surface of the silver cufflinks, for instance, limits where the engraver can work cleanly. Ask us first and we'll tell you what's possible.

★★★★★

"Third pair of cufflinks from Bramble & Crest now. The oval knot links in sterling — bought them for a board presentation, still wearing them six months later with everyday shirts. The finish doesn't cloud the way plated pieces do. I've had the same pair of their bar links since 2014 and they've not needed a thing. Quiet, well-made, no drama. That's what I'm after."

★★★★★

"The silk knot set arrived well packaged, eight colours in a small cloth roll. I was sceptical — silk knots can feel cheap, like a compromise. These don't. The diameter is right for a proper double cuff and they sit flat without bunching. My father wore silk knots in the seventies. I'd forgotten how good they look on a plain white shirt."

"Picked up the engine-turned silver links — the guilloche work is clean and consistent, not the shallow stamped pattern you get on most high-street pieces. One small note: the toggle mechanism on one link was a little stiff out of the box. Loosened after a week's wear, no issue since. Would buy again. The money clip I ordered at the same time is excellent."

★★★★★

"Ordered the mother-of-pearl oval links for a formal occasion. Delivery was prompt and the presentation box was appropriate — not overblown, just right. The links themselves are heavier than I expected from the photographs, which is a good sign. Solid swivel backs, no wobble. I'll be returning for the tie bar."

★★★☆☆

"The knot cufflinks themselves are exactly what I wanted — well-proportioned, good weight, the kind of thing you don't have to think about once they're on. Shipping took two weeks, which was longer than I'd planned for. No issue with the product at all, just worth knowing if you're buying close to a deadline."

★★★★★

"I came to Bramble & Crest looking for something in the same register as a pair of vintage gold links I inherited — restrained, no engraving, good proportion. The T-bar sterling set fits that description exactly. It's not trying to be modern and it's not pastiche. It simply looks correct. Worn them twice already and had one compliment from a man who notices these things."

Is this workshop for you?

You buy once. Then again in ten years.

01

You know the build matters more than the label. The piece that fits the life you have, not the life a catalogue says you should have.

02

You would rather pay once for a piece that lasts a decade than four times over the same span for ones that disappoint the second season.

03

You read the build — materials, construction, makers — before you read the price. The build tells you the truth; the price only tells you the marketing.

04

You want to send a tired piece back and get it restored on the same bench it was built on. Not replaced. Restored.

Built for men aged 35-65+ — established working professionals, craftsmen, and longtime collectors.
